Beijing Summer Palace

This is the Summer Place of the mighty emperors of the Qing Dynasty.

Built on the auspiciously named Longevity Hill, next to the balmy waters of Lake Kunming, this was the perfect getaway spot from the city in the sweltering summer months and is now the best preserved imperial garden in the world.

Today, you don’t need to be part of the imperial family to wander through this luxurious and tranquil place and admire the harmony between the lake and garden, trees and rocks, garden and palace.
