"Rainbow Mountains" National Park, Zhangye, China

 

Known as the Rainbow Mountains in English, this unique national park is on the doorstep of Zhangye. 

The strange shapes of the sandstone rocks, resembling towers and palaces, theatres and pillars, give the visitor the impression that they are standing in the monumental ruins of a lost city.

A city painted bright bands of regal purple, sunset orange, auspicious yellow and baby blue.
