Wadi Dana is a large natural
canyon and host to the Dana Biosphere Reserve.
The canyon was formed on a
layer of soft sandstone that was eroded by a stream between 590 and 408 million
years ago. It is now a dry riverbed 10 mi (16km) long with a rocky desert
landscape.
The white and red sandstone formation is beautifully contrasted with green vegetation and bright flowers.
