The huge Bibi-Khanym Mosque, one of the largest in the Islamic world, is an excellent example of Timurid architecture – a monumental style that emerged during the cultural renaissance which blossomed in Iran and Central Asia after the conquests of Timur.
The mosque boasts the heavenly domes, intricate vaulting, and tall minarets characteristic of the style.
Many shades of blue from the dominant part of the mosque’s colour palette, the hue representing heaven in Islamic symbology.
