Royal Tombs, Petra

The Royal Tombs are a series of mausoleums carved into the western face of Jabal al-Khubtha massif.

They were built by the Nabateans more than 2,300 years ago.

There is no definitive evidence as for whom the mausoleums were made.

However, given the richly decorated facades and grand scale, it is surmised that they might have been for Petra’s royalty.
