Sitting right on the banks of the Thames, this decommissioned coal-fueled power station is an unlikely architectural gem. With its lavish art deco style interior and the stark grandeur of its brickwork exterior, it forms an iconic part of the south London Skyline.
For
decades the station was left abandoned and to decay, and whilst there were
ideas to turn the building into a theme park or a new home for Chelsea F.C.
(football club), Battersea Power Station is now a group of luxury apartments
and a leisure complex.
