Broulee Island, NSW Australia

What was once a lonely island is now a peninsula.  Over the decade, sand was deposited by the tides and formed the impressive sandy spit, with its north and south beaches, that now connects the island to the continent.

Before Australia's independence, the spit was often covered by the waves, but today it is firmly in place, meaning it is a perfect place for a leisurely stroll in pretty surroundings, or to while away the hours watching the abundant birdlife.
