Bare Island, NSW Australia

The island is a true ugly duckling – at first glance, unremarkable, but delve (or dive) a little deeper, and visitors can find a wealth of marine beauty, with the surrounding coral reefs replete with colourful fish, seahorses and sea dragons.

The island is also historically significant, with its preserved colonial-era fort built to protect Sydney from Russian attach which is popular with those who wish to learn about Sydney’s naval heritage.
