From towering eucalyptus glades, with their cuttingly fresh fragrance, dotted with lazy koalas, to the odd-looking kangaroo paw, New South Wales is a paradise of plants.
One amazing piece of NSW floral trivia is the story of the Wollemi pine. This ancient tree was considered extinct, known to us only through fossil records that put it as a contemporary of the diplodocus.
Then,
in 1994, a living specimen was discovered in a remote NSW canyon. A true living fossil!
