Out on the edge of the Gobi desert stands Jiayuguan Pass, the westernmost fortification on the Great Wall of China.
Known as the 'First and Greatest Pass Under Heaven', the thick walls and graceful watchtowers have stood here for over2000 years, guarding the Middle Kingdom from the thundering hooves of the western barbarian hordes.
Today, the monumental architecture set in the barren, rocky landscape cuts an amazing scene, perfect for a unique photo opportunity.
