Sulayman-too Sacred Mountain, Silk Road

The five peaks of Sulayman-too Sacred Mountain would have been the first sign for Silk Road merchants that they were approaching Osh, a beacon promising a good meal and somewhere to rest after weeks on the road.

This mountain has been sacred for longer than anyone knows, as attested by the petroglyphs found on the rock walls, the sites of Zoroastrian pilgrimage and the beautiful Central Asia-style mosques build in the relatively recent 16th century.
